QKaliber

QKaliber is a CAD system for the development and improvement of rolling processes for long products and section profiles.

CAD system QKaliber is based on the analytical methods of the rolling shape design. The mutual work of the design system and simulation program provides solutions to the technological problems in the stages of preparing, adjusting and practical realization of the shape rolling technology.

QKaliber combines groove design with simulation and allows:

• Analysis and improvement of existing roll pass designs
• Direct roll pass design from the billet to the final profile and in a backward direction from the final shape to the billet
• Simulation of deformation, speed and temperature regimes, energy and power parameters of rolling
• Roll strength analysis
• Visual analysis of the deformation zone within the cross-section
• Analysis of rolling technologies, taking into account the characteristics and limitations of the mill
• Automatic creation of the entire rolling scheme based on a specified section profile
• Flow analysis of profile elements to assess roll pass design based on deformation parameters
• Simulation of cross-sectional deformation in 2.5D in seconds to verify the groove shape in QKaliber
• Import of grooves from *.dxf files and their shape customisation using built-in editor
• Import of roll pass design from an Excel template



QKaliber automatically generates projects for simulation in QForm UK. The user needs just to press the “Start simulation” button to verify the designed technology. QKaliber automatically creates of the entire rolling scheme based on a specified section profile and analyzes the flow of profile elements to assess roll pass design based on deformation parameters. QKaliber generates technical documentation such as rolling schemes, roll drawings, groove drawings.


Integration of the automated roll pass design with the simulation significantly speeds-up the rolling technology development and improves productivity.
